Transylvania Vocational Services, Inc (TVS) was established in 1967 as the Brevard Jaycees Sheltered Workshop. It was first located in a renovated house on Main Street. TVS moved to four different locations before moving into a purpose-built 60,000 square foot facility in July 2000.
The program evolved from a day activity program for developmentally disabled adults to its present status as a Community Rehabilition Program providing a wide variety of services to the community and vocational training and opportunities for persons with disabilities and other barriers to employment. TVS is a vital part of the service and industrial community in Transylvania County and Western North Carolina. The programs are nationally accredited by CARF and serves approximately one-hundred and thirty adults with disabilities each year.
TVS also serves the industrial needs of local and national customers. The plant is ISO 9001/2000 registered and is the only USDA approved dairy facility in North Carolina. TVS is an active member of the MARC Custom Medical Partnership.
